We let the past and future pull us, even as yesterday is gone and tomorrow awaits.
The other day I caught myself thinking about how much easier things will be in the future when “such-and-such” has happened or “so-and-so” is a certain age or we just get over this challenge, it will be fine.
When I dwell on the future and its imagined ease, I overlook today. I miss the moments that are right in front of me. I miss how the hard I’m walking through now can shape me in those moments.
I also miss out on the good. When I focus so much on the challenges and the ‘what ifs,’ I miss the goodness God places right in front of me.
Instead of letting the illusion of the future distract us, we will savor today. Let’s focus on the only moments we have, which are today. We have no idea what lies ahead for us. If we wait to live until everything is “right”, we will miss living.
Instead of looking ahead, I’m practicing living in the now.
Savoring Him,
Christin
