God gave me the first vision of this dream back when I was in my early 20s.
I wasn’t great at casting vision or seeing possibilities then. I was a brand new mom learning how to balance motherhood, homemaking, and being a wife. It was very difficult for me to see too far outside those roles because they were pretty all-consuming. But I didn’t mind. I loved it—even when my mind went to war with my spirit at times.
It’s now more than halfway through 2024, and even over the past four years, this dream and vision have continued to unfold and offer more clarity.
I thought it was going to look one way, but then I’d need to back pedal and wait because that wasn’t it. I’d even create an IG account, but then I’d get stuck, not knowing what to do next. And I realize now it’s because it wasn’t time yet.
What is this dream?
The first vision I caught of it was given to me as a “correspondence ministry”. A bit of a cold, uninspiring way to describe what was in my heart.
As I’ve continued to grow and learn in wisdom and talent, God has continued to release this dream to me in bits and pieces.
In 2020, I learned God had gifted me with the talent of watercolor painting, something I’d always loved and wanted to try. It didn’t take long for me to catch on, and though I am still learning, He says I will always be learning, and it’s time to bring this dream to life.
I care for people very deeply. Sometimes, it doesn’t always come out the way I envision, but my deep care for people sometimes is so strong, it can come out all wrong. It can look bossy or judgy or disapproving when that’s not my heart at all. My heart is for people to be happy and make wise choices that will lead to a happy and fulfilled life. So when my face appears to be disapproving, it’s really about me feeling worried or concerned about what “could” happen when someone I love doesn’t choose a wise or godly course of action.
I’m not a great speaker. But, I am a great listener and I tend to gather and express my thoughts best in written words. So this original thought of a “correspondence ministry” was really a dull but to-the-point way of birthing the dream of giving people encouraging notes.
It’s only recently that I remembered how often we all need encouragement and to be reminded we are loved, special, and thought of. Everyday. Not just on special occasions such as birthdays, Valentine’s Day and Christmas, or sad occasions like a death or a diagnosis.
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
Hebrews 3:13
Why are we waiting this long to let someone we care about know we care and are thinking of them more often than occasionally? The Bible tells us to encourage each other daily. Who doesn’t need an encouraging word everyday? I know I do. I know I wonder if anyone out there thinks of me from time to time, as they go about their days. Don’t you?
I want my friends and family to hear from me simply because. Because I love them. Because they matter. Because they are special to me. Simply because.
And that’s the name of my new art studio, which will feature greeting cards simply because.
Simply because.
I want to give you a note for no other reason than simply because.
