Invite Spontaneity

Christin Slade Avatar

Being an idealist can get in the way of truly living a rich and beautiful life. The abundant life Jesus offers us is as much physical as it is spiritual. There is room for both idealism and realism and even materialism, but only as a tool.

Rhythms are good. Goals bring growth. Planning out everything everyday? We miss out on the spontaneity of life that may nudge us from our comfort zone a bit. It could enrich our days with experiences and memories we wouldn’t otherwise have. And surprise, surprise–it would even enhance our idealism.

I’m a planner. Production-driven. An idealist to a fault. I dare say I may spend more time planning my life and reflecting on it than actually living it.  I’m sure that’s why I struggle with storytelling.

This realization compels me to step out as the second half of my life has begun. It’s time to have some fun. It’s time to let go of the way I think things should be and learn to enjoy what is. It’s time to release the control I think I have and live in the moment.

Say it with me: A little spontaneity a day goes a long way.

xoxo,

Christin
