It can feel both frustrating and freeing to realize you cannot control what others do, think, feel, or believe.
It’s frustrating because we want to see someone healthy, happy, and loving Jesus. We want to help them find their way there. But sometimes, they don’t want that. Whether they believe there’s a better way or feel that God’s way is too rigid, we can’t force them to see what we’ve seen, no matter how much we want to.
On the other hand, it’s freeing to understand it’s not up to us to change someone. It’s not our job, it’s not within our power, and it’s not our right. When you can release that feeling of control, it lifts a huge burden off you that you were never meant to carry.
The more we seek control, the less we feel in control (because we really aren’t).
We aren’t the Holy Spirit, and praise God, we don’t have to be. His role is sacred, and ours is simply to love, speak truth, and trust Him with the outcome.
xoxo,
Christin
