What you focus on is what you become. Instead of letting my mind wander, I allow God’s Word to fill me with Truth.
I’ve spent the last 5 years writing out morning pages in varying degrees. It’s a practice that Julia Cameron encourages artists to adopt to help clear the mind and release the clutter.
Eventually, my morning pages became morning prayers. I’ve recently come to a place where I’m tired of lamenting. It was useful for a season, but you tend to follow where your mind goes. Since my mind developed a habit of lamenting every morning, that’s where it sent me every day.
It’s no longer useful. So I’ve shifted my morning laments to morning liturgies of Scripture. I write His Word and focus on His words rather than mine. I saturate my mind with Truth. Oh what life they bring!
An adjustment in focus could be the key to shaping your life.
Savoring Him,
Christin
