There was a time I struggled to believe God saw lil ol’ me. Sometimes I still struggle with this. I am just one speck of a woman in a world of billions. Who am I?
Why Would God Care About Me?
Why would the God of this great big universe care about my struggles with joy, perfectionism, trauma, worries, or anything else? There are people starving and wars being fought. Children are being gunned down and trafficked into the sex industry. There are much more important things going on in the world than the pithy little problems I deal with in my corner of my world.
While that may be true, it doesn’t mean God doesn’t care about me or my tiny little life. He cares about every minuscule bit of it. That’s what love does. It can’t not care.
His plan and purpose for loving me aren’t to feed my ego. It’s because I matter. I am precious to Him, and so are you. In His eyes, you are not small.
Imagine the love between a father and his daughter for a moment. I know not every father/daughter relationship has that to share. But in a perfect world, imagine it. God’s love for you is even greater than the perfect earthly father’s love.
He wants the absolute best for you. Even better than you want for yourself. If we could trust God in this, it could change our lives.
Where is God When I’m Struggling?
When you’re going through the storms of life, God has not abandoned you or caused trouble for you. Struggles are a part of life in a fallen world. But God will not abandon you to them. He will be with you every step of the way if you let Him.
God will never force His way in.
Everything He did, He did for you. He chose you.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
-John 15:16
Whatever lie you believe about God not caring about you on a personal level is just that: a lie.
One of the biggest truths we often miss is that God wants us to do things His way because it is the best way. But too often, we go our own way because we truly believe we know better.
I have been down that path. For short seasons and long ones. It’s heartbreaking how much time is wasted chasing after my own way. It never brings the life or reward it promises.
God’s Faithfulness is For You
It’s easy to focus on all the things we’ve lost. But consider all we have gained. Christ died on the cross for our sins so we could have a right relationship with God. He couldn’t bear the thought of us being separated from Him, so He made a way.
Dear one, you matter to God. Every struggle and heartbreak, every tear. He cares about every little thing. But no one can make you believe it. You need to choose to believe for yourself. You need to choose to walk toward God.
Go to Him and trust Him.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
