What if God’s love doesn’t depend on you getting it right?
I came across a reel yesterday where the creator said, within the first 10 seconds of his video:
“I hate it when people say, ‘God loves you just as you are’ because He doesn’t.”
This is 100% a false statement. It doesn’t matter what his explanation was after this; the statement is still false.
Jesus died for us while we were yet sinners, proving He does love us just as we are.
It’s the very beginning of the gospel message, and it’s one of the most important messages we need to grab hold of. If we miss this message of unconditional love, we will struggle with the rest of the gospel message and building a relationship with Jesus.
When we hesitate to accept God loves us in the here and now, even through all our flaws and sin, we will not receive His love and will struggle to give love. We won’t believe it. We won’t trust that God’s love is that radical.
I left a comment on this reel explaining why the statement was false and boy did I get hammered and accused of not knowing the Bible or the gospel. Yikes. People were not kind.
This only proves that when you wrestle with accepting God’s love for you, you struggle to love others well.
The foundation of the gospel with this truth does not negate our journey or need for transformation. Yet this still does not negate God’s love for us in whatever state we are in at any given moment.
Through His great love for us, we have been sanctified by Jesus’ death and resurrection.
He doesn’t wait to love us until we start walking in sanctification. He still loves us even when we don’t.
God’s love doesn’t fail. It doesn’t stop when we mess up, and it doesn’t wait for us to change. He loves us right where we are–flaws, failures, and all. That doesn’t automatically mean we’ll share in His kingdom; our choices still matter.
The real question isn’t whether He loves us. It’s whether we love Him. Our hearts and our actions will show this. His love never fails. Period.
When we love Him, we walk in communion and companionship with Him. We aren’t out living for ourselves and sabotaging our relationship with Him. We’re living to strengthen it.
The choice lies with us. What will we do with this great love and this amazing gift of grace and salvation?
He loves you no matter what you choose to do, but your choices ultimately decide your life, future, and eternity.

I am absolutely open to having a conversation about this.
Savoring Him,
Christin
